The personnel committee of the Presque Isle County Board of Commissioners will be interviewing candidates to fill a newly created county resource officer position, hopefully by next month. Twelve interested persons applied for the position and commissioners Stephen Lang and Bob Schell, who make up the personnel committee, reviewed the applications and have selected three individuals to interview. Interviews were conducted Monday evening. The county decided to move forward with creating the new position as a result of the county development commission/economic development corporation executive director Joe Cercone announcing his retirement. After the personnel committee conducts interviews they will be making a recommendation to the full board at the first meeting in February in an effort to get someone in place and on the job.

THE PERSONNEL committee is also looking at applications for a clerk position with the Michigan State University Extension office. They received more than 40 applications for that position and will be going over those applications to narrow down the choices before conducting interviews and eventually hiring someone. A maintenance/custodial job is also available. The job has been posted internally with no one expressing interest.
