The Nauti Kruzers are putting on a “Cabin Fever” car show this Sunday in the Mariner’s Mall parking lot from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Organizers Jim McMurray and Bill VanSteenis are expecting members of the Wheels of Northern Michigan Club from Hillman, Northern Rods and Rides of Indian River, Elk Country Cruisers of Atlanta, Ramblin Rods of Alpena and the Nauti Kruzers of Rogers City as well as owners not involved with any club.
This car show will be the first one put on by the Nauti Kruzers, an informal group that formed in 2004. McMurray, who has an interest in old cars and knew several other people did as well wanted to get a group together to go cruising together, so he went to talk to VanSteenis. The group now has around 20 members who cruise around together, go to car shows together and sometimes just take the old cars to dinner. The group is an informal, non-sanctioned group, but hope to become sanctioned in the future.
The group is hoping for nice weather and a good turnout for this Sunday’s show. The entry fee is $5 but the event is free for spectators. Northern Rods and Rides, Black Bear Café and Huron National Bank are sponsoring the event.
Lunch will be available for purchase on-site and everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy the event. Trophies will be awarded to the best cars at 3:30 p.m. and the first ten out of town entrants will receive a ten-dollar gas voucher. Anyone who needs more information on the show should contact Jim McMurray at 734-8924 or Bill VanSteenis at 734-7188 or 734-2007.
