Dennis L. Johnston
Dennis L. Johnston, 69, of Onaway, died at Medilodge of Hillman Thursday, December 6, 2018. The son of Chester H. and Dorothy (Skuse) Johnston, Dennis was born May 14, 1949 in Waverly Township and lived there his entire life.
An excellent mechanic, welder and fabricator, Dennis made a career working for Sackrider, Everingham Trucking, and Jack Palmer repairing and maintaining semi-trucks and heavy equipment.
An outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish, and farm. He loved his John Deere tractor, fishing from the riverbank and sitting in the quiet peacefulness of the woods when he was hunting deer. Quite often you could find Dennis in the garage tinkering with farm equipment or repairing something for a friend or neighbor. A quiet humble man with a kind heart, Dennis was a wonderful person who would help anyone. He loved to have a good laugh and had a great sense of humor.
Surviving Dennis is his brother, Chet Johnston; sister-in-law, Kathy Johnston; and cousin and caregiver, Lovina (Eric) Kenroy; and sons, Trapper, Bradly, James and Elliot, all of Onaway. Dennis also leaves many cousins and friends. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dean Johnston.
As were his wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate the life of Dennis will be held at a later date and he will be laid to rest at Waverly Township Cemetery.
