Barre (Joe) Arden Phelps
Barre (Joe) Arden Phelps, 69, a longtime resident of Millersburg and Rogers City passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 in his sleep at MediLodge Rogers City. He was born October 22, 1948 in Hillsdale.
After graduating from Rogers City High School in 1967, he served in the U.S. Army (1968-69) and worked on the Great Lakes’ freighters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to the Tigers. His unique personality featured a quick and often sarcastic sense of humor.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Susan Heinzel Phelps; and three nieces, Lisa Phelps Lange, Stacey Giesen and Randi Strand.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Weatherbee Phelps and Gracia Losey Phelps.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 3 at 11 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Jefferson Township.
