With smiles and thanksgiving for a life well-lived we remain his; dear-heart Gerre (Domzalski); and 11 children and two adopted (Hong Kong and Vietnam), Thomas, Nance (Ken), Gregory (Lynn), Suzan, Mark, Matthew (Lisa), Joel (Lerissa), Michael (Karen), Eric (Terri), Dan (Hanh), and Todd (Lucy). Loving Papa to 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Enlisted in Marine Corps at age 17, he served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Val met his wife of 65 years while on leave and married in 1952, and graduated from Wayne State University on the GI Bill of Rights. A conscientious man of deep integrity, he worked over 30 years in the automotive industry as an engineer with a keen eye for precision.

He found joy in all his grandchildren, landscaping with rocks, gardening, cooking, woodworking, volunteering in local communities, serving

multiple terms as Ocqueoc Township trustee, plus a fervent Michigan Wolverine football fan.

Val, a reserved gentle giant, a man of a few words, forever an understanding heart, left us gently. He knew his loving family was present to help smooth his journey to meet God.

A celebration of Val’s life will be at Hentkowski Funeral Home, Saturday, June 23, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m service. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, will be July 12, at 10:30 a.m.
