Clarence J. “Monk” Idalski

1918-obit-Idalski-C-PhotoClarence J. “Monk” Idalski, 92, of Rogers City passed away May 2, 2018 at Medilodge of Rogers City.

 

He was born August 12, 1925 in Rogers City to Roman and Catherine (Yarch) Idalski.

Monk served in the United States Navy during World War II. On June 16, 1947 he married Shirley Hopp in Munger. Monk loved his Tigers. He also loved the fact that taking his dear Shirley to the casino made her happy.

Monk will be remembered for his quick wit and his huge smile. He loved hunting, fishing and chasing rabbits with his hounds.

He is survived by three children, sons Tom and Dave (Jean Ann); a daughter, Suzie (Terry) Lewis; four grandchildren, Tim (Paula), Jeff, Justin (Kate) and Abbey; four great-granddaughters, Marissa, Anna, Elise and Clara Ann; and a sister, Lillian.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and 11 siblings.

Memorial visitation will take place at St. Ignatius Catholic Church Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m. until time of his memorial Mass at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating. Rogers City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 607 will accord full military honors immediately following Mass.

Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
