Alan Neil Freel, 80, of Alpena, went to be with his Lord, Saturday May 13, 2017.
Alan was born January 24, 1937 in Rogers City to Neil and Elizabeth (Mills) Freel. Throughout his life, Alan was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, camping and just about anything to do outdoors. Later in life Alan found a new joy and that was spending time with his family and especially his grandson. On October 29, 1966 Alan married Darlene Beck in Spruce.
Alan is survived by, his wife of 50 years, Darlene (Beck) Freel of Alpena; two sons, Matthew (Michelle) Freel of Brimley and Mark(Tawny) Freel of Sault Ste. Marie; two grandsons, Connor Freel and Aaron Cox; and two sisters, Kay (Charles) Rhode of Hawks and Julie (Arnold) Vermelya of Millersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Elizabeth (Mills) Freel; twin brothers, Dale Freel and Dean Freel both of Millersburg; and a sister, Gail Hyde of Onaway.
Visitation took place at McWilliams Funeral Home, Alpena Tuesday, May 16. Visitation continued Wednesday until the time of funeral service at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tom Orth officiating. Internment took place at Riverside Cemetery in Millersburg immediately after the funeral service.
