William “Bud” Ralph Peet

William “Bud” Ralph Peetz, 83, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant.  Bud was born January 24, 1934 in Rogers City, the son of Otto Frederick and Edith Anna Bertha (Horn) Peetz.  On May 19, 1956, he married the former Joyce Iva Wallace in Carsonville.

Bud was farmer who also worked for 40 years for the Michigan Sugar Company.  He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church.  He was very proud to be a private airplane pilot. He enjoyed restoring two-cylinder John Deere engines, loved being in the woods, building things and traveling.

Surviving Bud is his wife Joyce, three children, Diane and David Whale of Mt. Pleasant, Nancy and Michael Corrigan of Hamburg and John and Barbara Peetz of Royal Oak.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, Carolyn and Jason Brown of Peoria, Arizona, Chelsea Peetz of Chicago, Illinois, Lauren Peetz of Royal Oak and James Peetz of Royal Oak; and his sister, Marie and Richard Roberts of Port Huron also survives him.  He was preceded in death by both parents.

Services celebrating the life of William Peetz will be held Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, 3401 E. River Road, Mt. Pleasant, MI with the Rev. Jonathan Bakker and the Rev. Benjamin Ulledalen officiating.  Friends and family will gather Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the church for visitation and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.  Interment will take place in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rogers City at a later date.  The family has suggested memorial contributions to Zion Lutheran Church.  Envelopes available at the church and Rowley Funeral Home.
