Leon George Delekta

Leon George Delekta, 90, of Rogers Township passed away at home March 2, 2017.

He was born June 14, 1926 in Pulawski Township to Mikolaj and Maryanna (Biel) Delekta.

Leon married Bertha Altman September 17, 1949 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Metz.

He was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the Color Corps and St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He was a founding partner of Huron National Bank and served as one of their directors. Leon retired from a successful farming career in 1997. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Canada.

Mr. Delekta is survived by his children, Gloria Cicero of Rogers City, Patrick (Jean) Delekta of Posen, Daniel (Sherri) Delekta of Rogers City, Rita (Larry) Reilly of Germany, Marvin (Ann) Delekta of Hawks, Diane Delekta of Rogers Township., Jim (Tammy) Delekta of Rogers City, Linda (Richard) Lenard of Hawks and Lisa (John Nowak) Knopf of Rogers City; 26 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Stephanie Ciarkowski of Posen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha in 1994; son, David Delekta in 2014; son-in-law, Frank Cicero in 2015; six siblings, Eleanor (Edward) Kulas, Gladys (Raymond) Leslie, Edward (Frances) Delekta, John (Martha) Delekta, Martha (Gilbert) Kluska and Anthony (Salom

ia and Leona) Delekta; and a brother-in-law, Edward Ciarkowski.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Wednesday, March 8, from 3 until 8 p.m. where the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and the Color Corps led the rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by the parish wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Ignatius Catholic Church today (Thursday) from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.

Interment will take place in the spring at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the St. Ignatius Catholic School or Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in memory of Leon Delekta.
