Rose Marie Salenski

Rose Marie Salenski, 66, of Grand Blanc, died peacefully January 12, 2017.

Rose was born in Alpena October 31, 1950, daughter of Virginia Smigelski and the late Edward Smigelski. She grew up on the family farm in Posen. She graduated from Posen High School and Western Michigan University. Rose married Robert Salenski June 8, 1974 and together they raised their family in the Grand Blanc area. She worked for several years at D & N Savings & Loan, but her true passion was teaching.  She was employed at Myer Elementary, specializing in reading and math programs, then later working in a home visitor program, where she supported young parents and early childhood education. She made many lifelong friends throughout her career. Rose volunteered for many worthy causes, including Ottawa Hills swim team, board member of Flint YMCA swim team, American Cancer Society, tutoring reading and board member of Ottawa Hills Subdivision. Rose enjoyed traveling, spending time with her husband and family, teaching her grandsons games and reading to them, attending countless swim meets and soccer games, cheering on her children in sports and later her grandsons. Rose was surrounded with much love and support from family and her close girlfriends during these last few weeks before passing.

Survivors include husband, Bob; children, Sarah and Jeremy Hedden, and Eric and Jodi Salenski; grandsons, Tyler and Jacob Hedden, and Sam and William Salenski; mother, Virginia Smigelski; sister, Theresa Szcerowski; brothers, James (Lorraine) and Gerald (Dawn) Smigelski; mother-in-law, Velma Salenski; and many extended family and friends.

Burial will be at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Posen.
