Roger Lloyd Hoeft

Roger Lloyd Hoeft, 79, of Hawks went to be with the Lord from Rogers City Tendercare January 21, 2017. He was born March 2, 1937 in Moltke Township to Herman and Alma (Schaedig) Hoeft.

Roger graduated from Hillman High School in 1956. On June 19, 1965 he married Joyce Sorgenfrei at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke Township. Roger retired from General Motors Corp. as a press operator March 1, 1993 and moved to Hawks. He enjoyed traveling, fishing (especially while on trips in Canada), hunting, playing cards and telling and retelling “Roger” stories.

Mr. Hoeft is survived by his wife, Joyce; three children, Gail (Michael) Maurer of Alpena, Dawn (Kenneth) Geere of Levittown, Pennsylvania and Allen (Pennie) Hoeft of Rogers City; six grandchildren, Kenneth Geere Jr.,
Samanthia (Nicholas Horvath) Geere, Allison Geere, Zachary Hoeft, Quintin Kelly and Ava Kelly; he is also survived by two sisters, Lilah (Norman) Elowski of Rogers City and Carol Hoeft of Petoskey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Alma; and two brothers, Arden and Neil.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday, January 24, with a prayer service that evening. Visitation resumed at Faith Lutheran Church in Hawks Wednesday through the time of funeral with the Rev. Dr. Jack D. Ferguson officiating.

Interment will take place at Montmorency Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church, St. John Lutheran School or Compassus Hospice in memory of Roger Hoeft.
