Terry Sorgatt, 79, of Ocqueoc Township passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at Rogers City Tendercare.
He was born November 14, 1937 in Pontiac to Harry and Erma (Getty) Sorgatt.
Terry graduated from Rogers City High School in 1955. He sailed the Great Lakes for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Following his retirement, he worked in the woods for Allen Karsten and the Curtis Brothers, Ray and Joe. He also worked at Cedar Log and Lumber in Millersburg. Terry was an expert woodworker and loved the great outdoors. He was a loving caregiver for his mother until she passed. He will be missed by so many. We were blessed to have him for 79 years.
Terry is survived by his brother, Calvin of Ocqueoc; sister, Eileen (David) Joilleret of Charlevoix; nephew, Larry (Chris) Nunemaker; niece, Barbara (Tracy) Penfold; great-nephew, Dylan; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Erma; and a stillborn sister, Lila.
A memorial gathering took place at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday, December 27. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum or Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.
