Leopold Joseph Mulka

Leopold Joseph Mulka, 99, of Rogers City passed away at Rogers City Tendercare Thursday, September 8, 2016.

He was born March 5, 1917 in Posen to Stanley and Victoria (Buzala) Mulka.

On December 28, 1943 Leopold married Nina Micketti at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus Third Degree Council 1705 and a dedicated member of the Fourth Degree Fr. Narloch Assembly 1711 and a lifelong member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He retired from U.S. Steel as a chief engineer, then worked for several years as a chief enginee

r with the Alpena Cement Company.  If Leopold wasn’t tinkering on one of his many projects, you could find him tending to his vegetable garden.

Mr. Mulka is survived by four children, Stan Mulka of Auburn Hills, Jim (Jane) Mulka of Rogers City, Linda (Ed) Mattson of Petoskey and Dave (Debbie) Mulka of Grand Rapids; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Fr. Raymond Mulka and Edwin Mulka. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Nina; four sisters, Louise Mauti, Blanche Daas, Cecelia Lewandowski and Irene Heinzel; and three brothers, Fr. Arthur Mulka, Paul Mulka and Lawrence Mulka.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Sunday where the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus lead the Rosary followed by the parish wake service. Visitation continued on Monday at the funeral home until the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Sylvestre Obwaka at St. Ignatius Catholic Church Monday. Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
