Condensed Minutes
April 4, 2016
The regular meeting of the Board of Road Commissioners for Presque Isle County was held at the Road Commission office at 657 South Bradley, Rogers City, Michigan. Chairman Charles Rhode called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Board Members Present: Charles Rhode, Thomas Catalano, Ronald Bischer.
Also Present: Supt./Mgr Smigelski, Clerk Wirgau.
Visitors: None.
Minutes:
A motion was approved to accept minutes from March 21, 2016 meetings as presented.
Ayes: All
Accounts Payable:
Motion by Catalano (Bischer) to approve the April 4, 2016 accounts payable in the amount of $57,994.70
Ayes: Rhode, Bischer, Catalano.
Supt./Mgr Report:
• Supt./Mgr reported on culvert failures on several roads due to high water from the spring runoff. Ditches were at full capacity due to 15” – 24” of snow on March 24th and 1” plus rain on March 31st.
• Information has been received from CRA for possible “competitive bidding requirements” for Township projects.
• County Road Engineer Mark Straley and Supt./Mgr are working on a preliminary application for a grant for funds to replace the culverts on 638 Highway at the Grand Lake outlet.
• Supt./Mgr will be attending PASER Training on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in Gaylord.
• The quarterly MTA Meeting will be Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Posen Community Center.
• Snowfall as of the end of March is 109.5”, and does not include the 8” received over the weekend.
9:00 a.m. Bid Opening – Truck equipment
Bids were opened and a motion was approved to accept all bids, allowing the Supt./Mgr and Mechanic to review and award the bid at April 18, 2016 meeting.
Old Business:
Resolution 2016-2 was adopted to abandon a 150’ portion of Lake Street, Section 9, T33N, R8E.
New Business:
A motion was approved to authorize expenses for Commissioners to attend the Commissioners Seminar April 17-19, 2016 at Sault Ste. Marie and for the Supt./Mgr and Payroll Clerk to attend an accident reporting training in Mt. Pleasant.
The Clerk disclosed that she is on the Board of Directors at Calcite Credit Union.
Resolution 2016-1 was adopted to support efforts to obtain funding for the replacement of the Monaghan Creek bridge on Shubert Highway
A motion was approved to authorize signing of the title sheet for the County Road 451(634 Hwy to Molski Hwy) project.
The next meetings dates are April 18, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and May 2, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.
There being no further business it was moved by Rhode (Bischer) to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
