Donald Gerald Powers

Donald Gerald Powers, 84, of Alpena went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, April 11, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born January 3, 1932 in Cheboygan to Claud and Lydia (Wilcox) Powers and was raised in Rogers City, graduating from Rogers City High School in 1950.

Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Joan; a son, Paul Powers; a daughter, Janine (Brad) Birmingham; four granddaughters, Sara (Zach) Armstrong, Casey (Tim) Wood, Toni (Shane) Posluszny and Alexandria Powers; four great-grandchildren, Alaina and Maclyn Wood, Connor and Liam Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Trevor Powers; a sister, Lois Green; and a brother, Robert.

Don Powers is at McWilliams Funeral Home – Alpena where friends called Wednesday from 2 – 8 p.m. with military honors by VFW Post 2496 at 5 p.m. and today (Thursday, April 14) at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joshua Schultz officiating. Interment will be at Spratt Cemetery.
