Minutes of Board of Education

A regular monthly meeting of the board of education of the Posen Consolidated School District No. 9 was held on March 21, 2016 in the High School Library.  The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by board president Kenneth Wozniak.

Members Present:  Dennis Budnick, Danielle Kowalski, Anna Soik, Jesse Chappa, Brian Konieczny, Kenneth Wozniak and Andrew Stone.

Members Absent: None.

Also Present:  Michelle Wesner, Superintendent Lucia Bruski, Recording Secretary.

Visitors: three.

Pledge of Allegiance.

Moved and supported to accept the minutes of the regular board of education meeting of February 15, 2016.

Ayes: All. Motion carried.

Moved and supported to approve the 2015/2016 bills for payment.

Roll Call Vote. Ayes:  All. Motion carried.

Moved and supported to approve the 2015/2016 sinking fund bills for payment.

Roll Call Vote. Ayes:  All. Motion carried.

Communications

Building and Grounds Committee

Jesse Chappa will repair fascia on the school building as well as paint the viking head at no cost to the school district.  General maintenance of the school as well as replacing clocks and painting inside and outside of the school will be done in the summer.

M-Step Recognition

Students who scored proficient or advanced on their M-Step will be honored with a recognition dinner to be held on Wednesday, April 13.

Special Education Millage Renewal

Board members were reminded to vote on May 3^rd.

Administrator’s Report

JV Softball

Moved and supported to appoint Taylor Chojnacki as the junior varsity Softball Coach with Wayne Karsten helping out with the softball program.

Athletic Insurance

Moved and supported to renew the Athletic Insurance through First Agency at a cost of $9,476.

Vote: Roll Call. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried.

Track

Moved and supported to appoint Chris Keller, Tiffany Keller and Anna Soik as volunteer track coaches to assist Tammy Hincka with the track teams.

New Business

Retirement of Elementary Teacher

Moved and supported to accept the retirement of Mrs. Julie McLennan as the first-grade teacher.

Vote: Roll Call. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried.

Boiler Pump Replacement

Moved and supported to have Zgorski-Micketti, Inc. replace the condensate pump on the boiler at a cost of $1,990.

Sound System

Ascom North, Inc. submitted a quote to install new and upgrade our existing sound system.  Board members would like to seek other bids.  This will be discussed at a future board of education meeting.

Bus Mechanic

The Board reviewed the current contract w

ith Joshua Nakoneczny.  His contract with Posen will expire on the 31 of August 2016.  Members discussed issues we are having with our fleet of buses and options to explore concerning the maintenance of our buses.

Information Items

Kindergarten registration is set to take place April 18 through April 22.
