Alvis Paul “Joe” Wirgau

Alvis Paul “Joe” Wirgau, 88, of Rogers City passed away March 27, 2016 during his brief stay at Rogers City Tendercare.

He was born October 9, 1927 in Belknap Township to Paul and Florence (Bredow) Wirgau.

Joe is survived by his wife, Norma; a son, Bob (Susan) of Petoskey; three daughters, Mary (Ronald) Modrzynski of Piney Flats, Tennessee, Sue (Steve) Kandal of Rogers City and Missie (Mark) Karsten of Rogers City;10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Willis Wirgau.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday, March 29, with a prayer service that evening. Visitation resumed at Peace Lutheran Church Wednesday through time of funeral with the Rev. J. Derek Riddle officiating. Rogers City Veterans of Foreign Wars offered  a military tribute at the conclusion of church services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the RCAS Children in Need Fund, c/o Rogers City High School, 1033 West Huron Av., Rogers City, Michigan 49779 or Peace Lutheran Church in memory of Alvis Wirgau.
