Condensed Minutes
January 18, 2016
The regular meeting of the Board of Road Commissioners for Presque Isle County was held at the Road Commission office at 657 South Bradley, Rogers City, Michigan. Chairman Charles Rhode called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Board Members Present: Charles Rhode, Thomas Catalano, Ronald Bischer
Also Present: Supt/Mgr. Smigelski, Clerk Wirgau, Mechanic Elowsky, Foreman Roznowski
Visitors: One.
Minutes:
A motion was approved to accept minutes from January 4, 2016 meetings as presented.
Ayes: All.
Accounts Payable:
Motion by Catalano (Bischer) to approve the January 18, 2016 accounts payable in the amount of $149,067.56
Ayes: Rhode, Bischer, Catalano.
9:00 a.m. – Bid Opening- Pickup Trucks
Sealed bids for the purchase of three pickup trucks were opened. A motion was approved to accept all bids, allow Supt./Mgr to review and award bid at a future meeting.
Supt./Mgr Report:
• Allis Township has requested that the Supt./Mgr and Commissioner Bischer attend their next meeting to discuss gravel roads.
• The tree cutting along Belding Road is 99% complete.
• An update from the County Road Engineer regarding two upcoming federal aid projects was presented and DEQ permits for two upcoming culvert replacements were discussed.
• Snowfall to date is: 41.5”. Last year as of January 16th snowfall was 51”.
Old Business:
A motion was approved to purchase one Western Star tandem truck from Grand Traverse Diesel.
New Business:
Motions were approved authorizing expenses for Supt./Mgr to attend PASER training in Gaylord on April 5, 2016 and Clerk Wirgau to attend a quarterly HR/Finance meeting in Lake City on January 26, 2016.
Motions were approved authorizing expenses for Commissioners, Supt./Mgr and Clerk to attend the Straits Area Council meeting in Mackinaw City on February 2, 2016 and the 2016 County Road Highway Conference in Lansing, March 15-17, 2016.

There being no further business it was moved by Bischer (Catalano) to adjourn the meeting at 10:14 a.m.
