Bernice Elizabeth Hopkins

Bernice Elizabeth Hopkins, known to everyone as “Bette,” of Black Lake, died at Hospice House in Cheboygan Saturday January 9, 2016 at the age of 77. Born August 15, 1938 in Savannah, Georgia, Bette was the daughter of Ernie “EA” and Bernice “Penny” (Johnson) Dacey.

Surviving Bette is her husband of more than 57 years, Dick Hopkins of Black Lake; daughter, Debra (Lyndon) Pilcher of Shelby Township; son, Donald (Holly) Hopkins of Grapevine, Texas; and grandchildren, Michael and Erica Pilcher of Shelby Township, and Jami and Shelby Hopkins of Grapevine, Texas. Bette also leaves her brother, Ernie (Joan) Dacey of White Lake; her sister, Carlene (Doug) Wardlow of Fenton; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Onaway. The Rev. Carmen Cook and hospice chaplain the Rev. Diane Meyer will officiate.
