Condensed Minutes
November 23, 2015
The regular meeting of the Board of Road Commissioners for Presque Isle County was held at the Road Commission office at 657 South Bradley, Rogers City, Michigan. Chairman Ronald Bischer called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Board Members Present: Ronald Bischer, Thomas Catalano.
Excused: Charles Rhode.
Also Present: Supt/Mgr. Smigelski, Clerk Wirgau.
Visitors: One.
Visitor:
James DeSpelder, Administrator from the County Road Association Self-Insurance Fund appeared before the board to discuss a proposed structure change to the fund.
Minutes:
A motion was approved to accept minutes from October 19, 2015 meeting as presented.
Ayes: All.
Accounts Payable:
Motion by Catalano (Bischer) to approve the November 2, 2015 accounts payable in the amount of $100,554.29.
Ayes: Catalano, Bischer.
Motion by Catalano (Bischer) to approve the November 23, 2015 accounts payable in the amount of $229,622.80.
Ayes: Bischer, Catalano.
Supt./Mgr Report:
• County Road 451 from the county line to Molski Road has been finished.
• The 489 Bridge is on schedule with a couple of weeks of work left, may be finished ahead of the December 19, 2015 re-opening date.
• Safety training was conducted on Monday, October 26, 2015.
• A request from the Big Cut Land Company was reviewed and discussed.
• The new truck is here and in operation in Onaway.
• Supt./Mgr presented handout on expected revenue for road funding due to recently enacted legislation.
• A copy of the proposed 2016 Budget was presented for review.
New Business:
A motion was approved to advertise for the purchase of one (1) new tandem snowplow truck with bid opening to be held January 4, 2016.

Steve Peters Commendation
WHEREAS, Steve Peters has been a valued employee of Presque Isle Road Commission having been hired on March 11, 1991 at the Rogers City Garage, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Peters retired October 30, 2015, after twenty-four years of continuous service with the Road Commission, and
WHEREAS, Steve Peters performed work duties as Head Mechanic for Presque Isle Road Commission; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of County Road Commissioners of Presque Isle County, on behalf of the citizens of Presque Isle County does hereby commend Steve Peters for his many years of dedica
A motion was approved to update authorized persons on bank accounts.
Resolution 2015-7 was adopted to update PERT deferred compensation plan trustee status.
A motion was approved to grant a safety award to employees for reducing the Road Commission workmen’s compensation rates through sound safety practices.
A motion was approved to set a public hearing for 2016 Budget review for December 28, 2015 at 9 a.m.
There being no further business it was moved by Rhode (Catalano) to adjourn the meeting at 11:20 a.m.
