Playing with fire and determination, the Lady Hurons made quick work of a talented Engadine squad in the Mackinaw City volleyball regionals. Rogers City took a 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-18) win to set up a match Nov. 12 with the Pellston Hornets for the regional championship.

“I am so excited for these girls. They played with a lot of heart today and communicated well. That’s what you need out there is teamwork and everybody working together,” said coach Jackie Quaine.

Quaine said the team respects Pellston for its great defense, but says the Hurons will play their own game.

Statistically, Meredith had 15 digs, two aces, six kills; Megan Brege had 14 digs and two aces; Streich had 12

digs, three aces, 18 assists, two blocks; Rabeau had eight digs and seven kills; Peacock had seven digs; Fleming five kills, three blocks; and Hannah Dittmar four kills.

Pellston defeated DeTour 3-1 to earn a berth in the regional finals. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Mackinaw City High School located on Center Street, just west of I-75.

The winner of the Pellston vs. Rogers City match plays the winner of the Stephenson vs. Crystal Falls Forest Park regional final set for tomorrow at Ishpeming Westwood. The quarterfinal game with those two winners will be played at Manistique High School Tuesday 7 p.m.
