Forest Park tops Hurons in quarterfinals

The Lady Hurons (31-11-1) ran into a high-flying, dive-digging team from the U.P. and had their great season come to an end. Playing in the Class D quarterfinal in Manistique against Upper Peninsula power Crystal Falls Forest Park (CF), Rogers City came out on the short end of a 3-1 match (23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 16-25).

“It was a great group. They get along together so well. There is no regrets. We played our hearts out here and that was our best for today. It wasn’t quite as good as we hoped it would be,” said coach Jackie Quaine.

“We are happy with our season. The districts went well. Onaway was favored to come out of there so that was a bonus for us.”

Statistically, Taylor Fleming had 12 kills and 12 blocks while Sarah Meredith had eight kills and 12 digs. Ally Streich notched 20 assists, nine digs and three aces and Kayla Rabeau added seven kills and nine blocks. Megan Brege tallied 19 digs and four aces and Jayna Hance had 12 digs.
