MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ROGERS CITY CITY COUNCIL

HELD IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2015

Mayor Sobeck presided and called the meeting to order at 7 p.m

PRESENT – Adair, Bielas, McLennan, Nowak, and Sobeck.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Bielas/Nowak, that the minutes of the Workshop and Regular Council Meeting of September 15, 2015 be approved as written.

ROLL CALL: Ayes – All, the motion carried.

CHECK AND INVOICE APPROVAL:

McLennan/Adair, that the following total fund expenditures be recognized as payments made and payments to be made, in the amount of $973,086.48 and the Mayor is authorized to sign the check register.

MAYOR:

PROCLAMATION – RYGWELSKI’S

Nowak/Bielas

WHEREAS, the Rogers City Area Chamber of Commerce will honor Rygwelski’s IGA at its annual banquet on October 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, the well-known First Street meat market has been producing delicious homemade sausages and serving fresh meats since Stanley Rygwelski first opened his doors in 1915; and

WHEREAS, James and Kathy (Rygwelski) Romel continue to operate the store today, the fourth generation of the family to offer great products and outstanding customer service; and

WHEREAS, the store carries a full line of groceries, meats, produce, beer, and wine, as well as its fantastic homemade sausages and kielbasa; and

WHEREAS, Rygwelski’s has been a vital member of the Rogers City business community for more than 100 years, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike for decades; and

WHEREAS, it is businesses like Rygwelski’s that give Rogers City its unique flavor, making it such a great place to both visit and call home;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Rogers City proclaims October 24, 2015 is forever known as Rygwelski’s IGA day.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

CREDIT CARD/ON LINE PAYMENT 

RESOLUTION NO. 2015-98    

McLennan/Adair, to approve the three-year agreement between Point & Pay and the City of Rogers City, and authorize the City Clerk/Treasurer to sign the agreement to accept credit card payments.

ROLL CALL: Ayes – All, the motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

RCHS HOMECOMING REQUEST

RESOLUTION NO. 2015-99   

Nowak/McLennan, to approve the request of the Rogers City High School to hold the Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 23, 2015 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Grambau Center, proceeding on Huron Avenue to Third Street, and concludin

g at Gilpin Memorial Field.

ROLL CALL: Ayes – All, the motion carried.

TRICK OR TREAT HOURS

RESOLUTION NO. 2015-100

Bielas/Adair, to set the hours for trick-or-treating on Halloween, October 31, 2015 within the City limits from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Ayes – All, the motion carried.

With nothing further to come before Council, Mayor Sobeck declared the meeting adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
