Moltke hills site of North Star League jamboree

The Rogers City Hurons’ cross country team hosted a North Star League jamboree Tuesday on its new course located on Church Highway.

Emily Malocha won the meet by a wide margin to continue her fine sophomore season.

It was the Hurons first home meet of the season. The girls’ team won the meet with 36 points led by junior Emily Malocha’s first-place finish at 22:17. Freshman Catherine Belusar was fifth at 24:09 and senior Amber Nowicki was ninth at 26:12.

Junior Camryn Bullock was 10^th at 26:50 and junior Taylor Shay was 11^th at 27:16 to round out scoring for the Hurons. Freshman Makayla Boris was 12^th at 27:37, freshman Jasmine Ramus was 14^th at 29:50 and freshman Abigail Pflug was 16^th at 33:04.

The boys’ team finished second on the day with 77 points, behind Fairview who won the meet with 43 points.

Leading the way for the Hurons was sophomore Phil Grambau in ninth place at 19:48. Sophomore Jacob Shomaker was 15^th at 20:53 and junior Zach Myers was 16^th at 20:58. Freshman Duncan Ross was 18^th at 22:25 and freshman Braden Idalski was 19^th at 22:25 to round out the scoring for the Hurons.

Freshman Tony Walker was 20^th at 22:30.20, freshman Daniel Bielas was 21^st at 22:30.83, junior Chris Tulgestka was 29^th at 23:52 and senior Aaron Romel was 33^rd at 30:01.

The Hurons run Tuesday in Fairview for the final North Star League jamboree of the season.

THE ONAWAY cross country team had some time off. The team is back in action tonight (Thursday) in Mancelona.
