Moltke hills site of North Star League jamboree

The Rogers City Hurons’ cross country team hosted a North Star League jamboree Tuesday on its new course located on Church Highway.

It was the Hurons first home meet of the season. The girls’ team won the meet with 36 points led by junior Emily Malocha’s first-place finish at 22:17. Freshman Catherine Belusar was fifth at 24:09 and senior Amber Nowicki was ninth at 26:12.

Junior Camryn Bullock was 10th at 26:50 and junior Taylor Shay was 11th at 27:16 to round out scoring for the Hurons. Freshman Makayla Boris was 12th at 27:37, freshman Jasmine Ramus was 14th at 29:50 and freshman Abigail Pflug was 16th at 33:04.

The boys’ team finished second on the day with 77 points, behind Fairview who won the meet with 43 points.

Leading the way for the Hurons was sophomore Phil Grambau in ninth place at 19:48. Sophomore Jacob Shomaker was 15th at 20:53 and junior Zach Myers was 16th at 20:58. Freshman Duncan Ross was 18th at 22:25 and freshman Braden Idalski was 19th at 22:25 to round out the scoring for the Hurons.

Freshman Tony Walker was 20th at 22:30.20, freshman Daniel Bielas was 21st at 22:30.83, junior Chris Tulgestka was 29th at 23:52 and senior Aaron Romel was 33rd at 30:01.

The Hurons run Tuesday in Fairview for the final North Star League jamboree of the season.

THE ONAWAY cross country team had some time off. The team is back in action tonight (Thursday) in Mancelona.
