Lyndsey Romel is Miss Posen 2015, winning the talent award and the poise and appearance award on the way to the title.

Her winning-talent presentation was an interesting glow stick routine set to music. She danced around the stage twirling glow sticks on a string, as they changed colors while the lights were dimmed and brightened throughout the routine.

She is the daughter of Frank and Lori Romel and will be a senior this fall at Posen High School.

“I was pretty nervous at first but I am glad I got through it,” Romel said after the event. “I was really excited and happy when they announced my name.”

Jolene Reese, the daughter of Stan and Lorie Reese, took first runner-up and won the coordination award. For her talent presentation, she donned sunglasses and sang Janis Joplin’s 1970 a cappella classic “Mercedes Benz.”

Other contestants were Kayla Flewelling, who won the congeniality award, and did a speech on anxiety and Brianna Krajniak, who sang and danced for her talent presentation.

Last year’s queen, Shianne Smolinski told the audience that her year as queen had been a wonderful and rewarding experience.

“It has truly been an honor representing Posen and the memories made will be cherished forever,” she said. She also thanked many for helping make her year memorable including Art Nowicki for pulling the festival float in parades. She plans to attend Alpena Community College in the fall.

Julia Lewandowski, Miss Posen 2009, again served as choreographer for the event. Randy Idalski, who is also president of the Posen Chamber of commerce, served as master of ceremonies for the sixth year. He did a great job entertaining and informing the crowd.

Pageant staff included Laura Idalski, Erika Comerford, Janice Idalski, Amanda Fleming and Rachel Galer. The stage crew consisted of Judy Romel, Alletta Misiak, Taylor Fleming and Reagan Comerford. Brooke Daniels was the spotlight operator.

Michelle Styma, Stacy Skiba and Brenda Gauthier provided makeup by Mary Kay while Penny Seiler and Janice Idalski provided dressing room assistance for the contestants.

Judging were

Shirley Haan, Andy Grambau, and Nikki Turner while Julie Rouleau, of the Alpena accounting firm of Boldrey, Senchuck, Rouleau & Williams, CPA, PC, served as auditor.

Danielle Woloszyk, a former Miss Posen contestant, provided entertainment as the judges were finalizing their decision. Miss Rogers City Heather Hentkowski and Teen Miss Rogers City Linnea Hentkowski performed a dance after the contestants’ opening number.

Rex and Sherry Manning of Prestige Productions were the audio and lighting engineers for the event. Randy Idalski, Nick Idalski and Zach Idalski set up the ramp for the pageant.

The new queen and her court will reign over the Posen Potato Festival set for Sept. 11, 12, and 13, as well as represent Posen at other events throughout the upcoming year.
