With a 10-point lead and less than seven minutes left in the game, the visiting Alcona Tigers looked to have the game under control. But a runaway win would not happen Tuesday as the Huron boys (5-9) came back to take a 44-43 win. A bucket from Brendan Koss as time expired gave the home team the win.

“Once your guys get that feeling after you beat someone that nobody gave you a chance to beat, you will start believing. They bought in on the defense today,” said coach Jesse Streich.

With just five seconds left, Koss took a pass and drove the length of the floor nailing a banker as time expired to give the Hurons the win.

“We talked in the huddle and drew up a play. Five seconds is a long time. You can go the length of the floor in five seconds and he did it. I thought he was going to pull up and he didn’t. He hit the lay-in. For a sophomore, that is huge,” Streich said about the Koss shot to win the game.

Alcona led 17-9 at the end of the first quarter, and 26-21 at halftime.

Hincka led the team in scoring with 15 points and added 15 rebounds. Belusar has 10 points while Koss scored nine.
