Hincka brothers named as victims of Thursday shooting

The Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Department (PISH) identified the victims of Thursday’s shootings near Posen. Eugene Hincka, 60, and his brother Henry Hincka, 48, who lived at the residence on Hincka Road, were found dead by deputies who arrived at the scene shortly after 8 a.m.

A suspect, who has not been identified as of 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, has been arrested for the shootings.

The suspect was a neighbor to the Hinckas and they were partners in a farming business, a press release from PISH said. “Initial investigation shows that there were some financial issues and that this could have led to the shootings,” the statement reads.

As of Friday morning, the investigation is continuing as deputies gather evidence and complete interviews before submitting information to the prosecutor’s office.

The suspect will be arraigned, possibly later today in 89th District Court.
