Regina Purgiel, 97, of Posen, passed away December 29, 2014 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 13, 1917 in Posen to Leo and Anastasia (Smolinski) Bronikowski.

Regina is survived by three daughters, Doris Kowalski, Janet (Tom) Modahl and Diane (Bill Kerry) Purgiel; a son, Norman Purgiel; eight grandchildren, Linda (Charlie) Chojnacki, Debra (Robert) St. Clair, Karen (Andy) Kowalski, Kris (Jason) Chalupniczak, Lori (Steve) Redes, Jerome Kowalski, Eric (Kristy) Nelson and Julie (Miles) Cross; 17 great-grandchildren, Krystle Styma, Matthew (Michelle) Styma, Whitney (Grant) Meeder, Chelsea (Brandan) Meeder, Anna St. Clair, Ethan St. Clair, Austin Redes, Brooke Redes, Brendan Chalupniczak, Peyton Chalupniczak, Mercedes Kowalski, Elizabeth Kowalski, Noah Kowalski, Avery Nelson, Nina Cross, Graham Cross and Max Cross; and two great-great-grandsons, Harvey Calliway and Hayden McConnell.

Visitation was at St. Casimir Catholic Church Wednesday, December 31, from 10 a.m. through time of Mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating.

Interment took place in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Regina Purgiel to St. Casimir Catholic Church or Hospice of Michigan.
