Michael Sobeck

Michael “Mike” Sobeck, 65, of Rogers City passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family Friday, December 12, 2014.

Mike was born October 25, 1949 as the 10th of 11 children to George and Cecelia (Kowalski) Sobeck. He attended St. Ignatius Catholic School and served as an altar boy. He attended Rogers City High School and graduated in 1968. In June of 1969, Mike was inducted into the United States Army and bravely served his country in the Vietnam War.

Michael is survived by his two loving sons, Mike (Jenny Lewandowski) of Gaylord and Russell (Ashlee Scott) of Rogers City; as well as his grandchildren, Alysha, Adam, Taylor and Kylah. He is also survived by his siblings, Marjorie (Ralph) Erickson of Rogers City; Joan (Charles) Dettloff of Rogers City; Betsy (Rodney) Fleming of Rogers City; Judy Grulke of Flint; John (Julie) Sobeck of Rogers City; and Kari Sobeck of Rogers City. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, John Yarch; and sisters-in-law, Vivian Sobeck and Karen Sobeck; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The visitation for Mike was Monday at the Hentkowski Funeral Home in Rogers City, with a funeral service conducted at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Rogers City Tuesday. Memorials can be made to the VFW Post 607 or the Presque Isle Veterans Memorial Restoration Fund.
