Emilee Madison is new Miss Sunrise Side

The Miss Sunrise Side Scholarship Pageant awarded more than $6,900 in scholarship money to young women of northeast Michigan on Saturday night. Miss Sunrise Side 2014 is Emilee Madison of Onaway. Miss Sunrise Side Outstanding Teen is Desiree Smillie of Millersburg.

Madison received an $1,800 cash scholarship and a $4,000 Alpena Community College Scholarship (ACC) sponsored by the ACC Foundation.  She is the 18-year-old daughter of Bryan and Catina Madison.  Madison will compete for the title of Miss Michigan in June of 2015, as Miss Sunrise Side is a local preliminary competition to Miss America. Madison was also awarded the talent award, a $100 scholarship, for her tap routine.

Hannah Hazlett of Ocqueoc was the first runner-up and received a $500 cash scholarship.  Hannah is the 22-year-old daughter of Steven and Mary Hazlett.  Kaylee LaFave of Harrisville was the second runner-up and received a $250 cash scholarship. LaFave also received the people’s choice award.  She is the 19-year-old daughter of Darryl and Hope LaFave.  Amber Penman of East Tawas received the Community Service Award and a $100 scholarship, along with the Spirit Award.

Smillie received a $150 cash scholarship and received the People’s Choice Award.  She is the 16-year-old daughter of Scott and Kim Smillie.  Desiree will compete for the title of Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen in June 2015.

Linnea Hentkowski of Rogers City was the first runner-up and received a $75 cash scholarship and received the spirit award.  Linnea is the 13-year-old daughter of Matthew and Laura Hentkowski.

Natalie Goff of Lachine was the second runner-up and received the talent award.  Natalie is the 14-year-old daughter of Ray and Bonnie Goff.
