Traynham third at regionals, off to MHSAA state finals

Senior Joe Traynham will be competing at the Michigan High School Athletic Association state cross country finals Saturday at 10 a.m. at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. Traynham punched his ticket to compete after a third-place finish at regionals last Friday in Central Lake with a time of  17:09.

He will look

to take his talents to the big stage where a finish in the top 30 would give him all-state honors.

“It was an amazing season. I am so proud of the kids and how far they came and for all they have accomplished. With a conference championship and the memories this season has brought, I am so proud of these athletes,” said coach Marty Mix.

The boys’ team was 8th overall at regionals and were led by Traynham. Seth Satchwell was 36th at 19:13, Morgan McLean was 41st at 19:37, Cameron Horn was 49th at 20:12 and Preston Badgero was 55th at 20:20.

Clare Bastian led the girls’ team finishing in 19th place at 22:40. Sammy Pasella was 34th at 23:41. Sumer Harman-Cooksey was 40th at 24:21 and Kate Olmsted was 49th at 25:17.
