Shianne Smolinski earns Miss Posen award

Shianne Smolinski, the daughter of Rich and Connie Smolinski, is the new Miss Posen. Reacting with joy as master of ceremonies Randy Idalski read her name, she smiled and covered her mouth and accepted the sash and crown from Kendall Hirschman, Miss Posen 2013.

“I was shocked. I was really shocked. I can’t believe it still,” Smolinski said after the pageant. She quick painted a picture of stars and planets for her talent presentation.

Amy Buczkowski earned first runner-up honors and won the talent for a unique song and cup routine. She also earned the poise and appearance award.

Elizabeth Mulka earned second runner-up. She performed a river dance routine for her talent presentation.

Lauren Romel earned the congeniality award while Mercedes Kowalski won the coordination award.

The pageant staff again presented a smooth running evening of entertainment, keyed by Randy Idalski’s engaging manner which kept the spotlight on the contestants. That staff included Laura Idalski, Janice Idalski, Erika Comerford, Rachel Galer, Judy Romel and Amanda Fleming. Julia Lewandowski and Julie Nelson choreographed the opening number to a baseball theme.

Dee Meyers operated the spotlight while Rex and Sherry Manning of Prestige Productions provided audio and lighting.<

Other contestants included Paige Ciarkowski, Erica Ataman, Brandi Chojnacki, and Taylor Chojnacki.

Special entertainment came from three former Miss Posens. Sisters Julia and Paige Lewandowski (the reigning Miss Sunrise Side) danced and Elyse Perrault sang “At Last” to roaring applause. Hirschman also performed a great routine with her cheerleading team.

Judges for the event were Neil Seabase, Kendra Truman and Ann Lange while Julie Rouleau was auditor.
