Wregglesworth, Abshagen survive recall effort

Voters in Onaway kept their incumbent mayor and longtime city commissioner while recalling one commissioner, but then voting her back in for a two-year term.

Gary Wregglesworth retained the mayor’s position, gaining more votes than James Gibson, the former chief of police for Onaway. Wregglesworth will finish his term which runs until the end of 2014.

Voters also retained Charles Abshagen in a recall bid, but Roger Marsh won the right to complete the final two months of Jessie Horrocks’ term. Then, voters chose to bring back Horrocks and Abshagen for regular two-year terms which begin in January.
