Traynham qualifies for state finals

Onaway High School junior Joe Traynham will be the school’s lone representative at the cross country state finals after finishing fourth at regionals in Central Lake Friday with a time of 17:30. He will run at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on Saturday at 11 a.m. as he looks to place at the state finals meet just after earning all-state honors from the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association (MITCA).

The Onaway boys’ team finished 8th overall at regionals. Other finishers were Morgan McLean (29th, 19:39), Seth Satchwell (39th, 20:43), Preston Badgero (41st, 20:45), Cameron Horn (47th, 21:02) and Joe O’Bradovich (55th, 21:26).

The girls’ team finished ninth overall led by Claire Bastian in 22nd place at 23:18. Signe Magnussen was 26th at 23:49. Other finishers for the Cardinals were Hannah Materna (54th, 25:56), Kate Olmsted (61st, 26:57), Tiffany Traynham (74th, 29:46), Erika Price (78th, 32:34) and Maddy Watts (79th, 32:37).
