Three events to help ring in the holidays in Onaway

The holiday season is upon us and with that there are three events planned in Onaway to help ring in the holiday season.

The first event is the annual tree lighting at Chandler Park next Thursday at 6 p.m. The City of Onaway took over the event from the Chamber of Commerce and has the trees up and adorned with lights, ready to go for the event. Those who have sponsored a tree will put decorations on them before the event. All are invited to come join in the lighting of the trees.

Following the tree lighting next Thursday the community Christmas choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the school. The theme for this year is “An Old Fashioned Christmas.” The choir will invite the

audience to sing along at times throughout the show as the community choir will bring in the holiday season with joyful voices.

For the 14th straight year Moran Iron Works will host its annual community fireworks celebration Dec. 7. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. that day at the Moran Iron Works plant west of Onaway.

The holiday celebration includes hayrides, bonfire, refreshments, Santa Claus, and gifts for children 12 years and under. The evening concludes with a grand musical fireworks display.  Fireworks will begin at dark (approximately 6 p.m). The event is free of charge and open to the public.

All events are designed to bring the community together to bring in the holiday season together.
