Posen is perfect against Montmorency County schools

Posen (10-4, 6-4 North Star League) won Tuesday’s match at Atlanta in four sets, (25-10, 25-14, 20-25, 25-11) to claim a pair of victories from Montmorency County schools. They took Hillman in four last Thursday.

“All the girls played good tonight,” said head coach Michelle Mulka. “We spread the ball around giving all 16 players a chance to attack the ball. We still need to work on keeping communication and intensity up all the time.

“The girls are having their ups and downs this season but never give up on the team. Super proud of the way the girls get along and talk.”

Ashley Meyers posted nine aces from the serving line and recorded one kill. Setter Mercedes Kowalski had 23 assists. Korynn Hincka was her productive self at the net with a dozen kills. She also added a pair of aces.

The Vikings finished strong against the Tigers in the “Spike Out” cancer game. They started off slow with a poor first set showing and a 13-25 loss.

The girls quickly got on track with an impressive win in set two, 25-13. That momentum carried over into set three, 25-14.

The Vikings then took the clincher in front of a nice home crowd. It was close, but the red and white clinched the win, 25-23.

Korynn Hincka came through with nine kills, six blocks and three aces. Monica Bartz had five, and from the serving line, she fired two aces.

Kowalski assisted on 17 plays and added two. Kayla Lenard finished with a team best 10 digs.

ior varsity (JV) (4-7) won two-of-three over Atlanta, 9-25, 25-23, 15-6.

Sam Lenard had four kills and three aces, while Jolene Reese finished with five kills and five aces. Jenna Hincka assisted in 12 plays.

The JV swept the Tigers, giving up 23, 8 and 4.

Jenna Hincka had nine aces and two assists.  Marla Walter had three aces and two kills. Akari Takesato fired four aces.
