Onaway High School homecoming celebrated

Onaway High School fall homecoming week peaks today with a pep rally, football game and crowning of a queen during halftime festivities of the football game.
The dance is Saturday night with the king being crowned at 7 p.m.
Senior candidates for queen are Mariah Ehrke, Lindsey LaLonde, Olivia McDonald and Rachel Nave. The candidates for king are seniors Tommy Auger, Frankie Ramos, Chris Cleaver and Carlos Bautista. Signe Magnussen is an honorary senior member of the court.
Students were building floats this week and enjoying spirit day activities. Spirit days culminate today with the traditional red and white day at the school and the community. The pep assembly is at 2:30 p.m. and the parade is at 4 p.m.
The floats and vehicles will be lined up at the Chagnon Funer
Floats will be judged on neatness, originality, connection to theme and use of space.
Float winners and spirit day winners will be announced at halftime of the homecoming game with Central Lake.
In the event of inclement weather, the cars will not go on the field, but court members will.
Junior court members include: Brooke Riley, Joe Traynham, Megan Hoedel and Patrick Dunn. The sophomores are Elisha Ionetz, Morgan McLean, Tori March and Derick Wregglesworth. The freshmen are Skylar Butler, Taylor Ehrke, DJ Fenstermaker and Cameron Horn.
Earlier in the week, the classes participated in PJ day, twin day and fairy tale day. There was no school on Tuesday because of a safety situation at a house not far from the school.
