Hurons take 22-7 win in Onaway; now 2-0 on season
Rogers City went into Onaway looking to keep the momentum of last week’s 30-20 win over AuGres going. The Cardinals were looking to defend their home turf.
After a scoreless first half, the Hurons came away with a 22-7 win over the Cardinals. Quintin Kelly’s 3-yard pass to Chris Lopez opened the scoring at the 6:16 mark of the third quarter. Jacob Malocha’s two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.
Senior running back Jack Ryan made it 14-0 with his 3-yard run three minutes later.
That score stood up until Onaway cracked into the scoring column on an 8-yard run by Tommy Auger with 9:32 left in the fourth.
The Hurons answered with a touchdown run from Cameron Urban to seal the win. More details will be in the next edition of the Advance.
