Three Onaway boys’ basketball players earned all-conference honors.

Junior Joe O’Bradovich was a first team selection in the Ski Valley Conference, while senior Jason Sigsby and junior Carlos Bautista were honorable mentions

O’Bradovich averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds a game. He scored 352 points during the 2012-013 season and grabbed 242 rebounds.

“It was his third year as a starter,” said coach Eddie Szymoniak. “This year, with him finally being healthy, he brought some leadership to the team.

“He picked things up in the middle of the season. He started hitting from outside, which made him a huge threat. He is a beast down low, but when he could hit from outside, it made him that much harder to defend.”

Szymoniak said he played an important with the success of winning 12 games. He will be an important part of next year’s basketball squad, which will be gunning for a district title and more.

Sigsby played point guard and made it very difficult for teams to press him.

“He may not have scored a lot, but he knew how to distribute the ball

to the other scorers,” said Szymoniak. “For a point guard, he was a great rebounder.”

Bautista, who averaged 12.1 points and 11.6 rebounds a game, was nearly unstoppable down low. “We are really looking forward to having him back next year. If he improves half as much as he has over the last year, he has big things to come.”

He scored 267 points on the seasons, pulled in 255 rebounds and blocked 57 shots.

Sigsby scored 110 points and 92 assists, and averaged 3.8 steals and 4.7 rebounds per game.

The Cheboygan Tribune also named O’Bradovich and Bautista first team all-area.
