Nave and Robins compete at State Wrestling Finals

Two Onaway Cardinals have battled tough all season and even tougher in the postseason as they have qualified for the individual state wrestling finals which began yesterday (Thursday) at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Freshman Isaac Nave (103) and senior Morgan Robins (140) are competing with the top 224 wrestlers in Division IV and the top 16 wrestlers in that division in the state at their respective weight classes.

Festivities began yesterday with the grand march at 1:45 p.m. with the first, and lon

gest, round of wrestling following.

Nave and Robins each finished third at individual regionals on Feb. 16 and earned the right to compete at the finals. Both will be making their first trip to the finals to compete.

Nave (33-11) was set to take on Jacob Voss of Addison, a junior with a record of 40-9 to start the finals. Nave is listed as honorable mention in the rankings while Voss was ranked No. 2 at 103 pounds.

Robins (27-10) is currently ranked No. 9 in the state and was to take on Justin Schroeder of Addison a senior with a record of 32-19, who is honorable mention in terms of rankings.
