Graduation ceremonies set for Posen and Rogers City this weekend

Summer has just about arrived and that only can mean one thing. It?s time for dozens of seniors from Posen and Rogers City high schools to turn their tassels and enter the next stage of their young lives.

Members of the Class of 2011 will take their final strolls as high school students in their respective gymnasiums one last time this weekend. Posen High School will graduate 17 at its commencement ceremony Friday evening at 7:30.Valedictorian Lindsey Bartz and salutatorian Sarah Styma head the list of 14 honor graduates.

iron will present the graduates, while Ken Wozniak follows him to the podium with the traditional school board president?s address. Class advisor Greg Pietsch will be awarding the diplomas. The annual baccalaureate mass, a celebration honoring graduating seniors, was conducted Sunday at St. Casimir Catholic Church. IN ROGERS City, principal and superintendent Jamie Huber will preside over the graduation of 52 students.

A class dinner, featuring the history, prophecy and giftatory, will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. today at the Rogers City Area Senior and Community Center. That is for class members only.

Class Night is tonight (Thursday) beginning at 7 p.m. with an awards presentation by school counselor Marilyn Dimick and a slideshow by Travis Peltz. Commencement is Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Class president Michelle Belusar will read the names of the graduates and school board president Mike Marx will hand out the diplomas. The class has 27 honor graduates headed by valedictorian Jordan Bellmore and salutatorian Nathan Fleming.
