Posen track squads on the road at Fairview and Mio

The Viking track teams were in Fairview Tuesday for their annual track and field event. The girls finished with 35.5 points, good for eighth place, while the boys were ninth with 41 points. Senior Corey Hentkowski shared first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.54 seconds. Teammate junior David Kerr was an eyelash behind with a time of 11.66, for third. Hentkowski was second in the long jump (18? 8.01?) and fourth in the 200 (24.13). The 400 relay team of senior Pat Schuch, sophomore Lucas Litwinski, Hentkowski and Kerr claimed fifth (49.43).

Sophomore Warren Beach was seventh in the 1,600 (5:13.55) and 3,200 (11:26.39). For the girls, freshman Korynn Hincka was tied for third in the high jump (4? 8?), fourth in the 800 (2:47.47) and fifth in the 1,600 (6:00.63) and set a new PR. Senior Tracy Mulka took a fourth in the discus (73? 11?). She also was sixth in the shot put (28? 6.5?). Sophomore Kristina Wisniewski was 2.5? behind in seventh. The 400 relay team of freshman Austin Sharpe, sophomore Kari Ataman, eighth-grader Shianne Smolinski and freshman Bev Bednarski set a personal record (PR) in the event (59.52). The 1,600 relay team of senior April Miller, eighth-grader Elizabeth Mulka, Hincka and Smolinski took fifth (5:04.92). THERE WERE a handful of firsts last Friday at Mio. Hincka topped the leader boa

rd in the high jump (4? 8?), was second in the 3,200 (14:22) and third in the 1,600 (6:54). The 400 relay team of Sharpe, Smolinski, Ataman and Bednarski set a PR for second (1:00.63).

Tracy Mulka was third in the discus (82? 11?) and shot put (27? 9?). Her discus throw set a new PR. Sharpe also set a PR in the 100 hurdles (20.08). She outdid herself in the 300 hurdles (59.13) as well. For the boys, Kerr was first in the 100 (11.80) and second in the 200 (24.37). Both were PR?s. Beach was second in the 1,600 (5:11.38) and 3,200 (11:28.29), both PR?s. Hentkowski was third in the long jump (18? 9.75?).

The 3,200 relay team (sophomore Martin Mulka, eighth-grader Matthew Wisniewski, Litwinski, Schuch) was third (10:10.75), as was the throwers relay team of sophomore Eric Rice, junior Dustin Thomas, Wisniewski and Litwinski (50.31). Overall the girls took fourth with 61 points, while the boys were fifth with 48 points. There were five competing schools.
