PI Academy to graduate 10th anniversary class

Presque Isle Academy commencement exercises will be conducted Thursday at the Case Township Community Center (former Millersburg School) beginning with the playing of ?Pomp and Circumstance? at 6:30 p.m. Families and friends, staff and PI Academy board members will gather to celebrate the graduation of its 10th graduating class from the school. The first class had one graduate in 2002.

orne, Bridgite Lakies, Nichole Arold, Brianna Merchant-Eversole, Aneane Nutting, Lorne Sachs, Alicia Herhold and Chris Garms, ?It?s just a good bunch of kids,? said the school?s director Rick Bongard. ?They?ve really spent their time with their studies, and they?ve done what was necessary to graduate on time.

?This group has some good ideas of how they are going to further their education, a couple of them are already in the workforce.? Eversole and Arold will be speaking during the event, while Garms is this year?s honor student. Danielle Woodard is a G.E.D. recipient and will be recognized as well.

The special commencement speaker will be undersheriff Joe Brewbaker, who also serves as a member of the board of directors. The Academy?s board includes Kammie Dennis, president; Mark Schuler, vice president; Joe Brewbaker, secretary; Mitch James, treasurer; as well as trustees Marma Beatty, Chris Chagnon and Rick Steiger.
