Posen boys host district finals tonight
Junior Jerome Ciarkowski scored a game-high 22 points in Posen?s Class D district victory Wednesday against Mio. Posen held of a late charge by the Thunderbolts to claim a 53-41 win, and earn a place in the district final against Fairview. Friday?s (3/11) game in Posen starts at 7 p.m.
The Vikings, who led 25-11 at halftime, played sloppy in the second half, according to head coach Steve Hentkowski, committing 15 turnovers in the final two periods. Mio chipped away at the lead, until it was down to three, 39-36, with 5:20 left in the fourth. That?s when Posen flipped the switch on and went on a 9-2 run.
Junior David Kerr finished with 15, four of which came during the key run. Junior Tyler Kuffel had 10 for the now 21-1 Vikings.
