Posen superintendent receives positive annual review

by Peter Jakey, Managing Editor

The Posen Consolidated School board of education has concluded its annual evaluation of superintendent Dru Milliron. ?The end result is he?s doing a nice job,? said Ken Wozniak, school board president. ?He met or exceeded every category.? The formal evaluation includes seven categories, ranging from his relationship to the board, staff and students, to his educational leadership and finances. The board dismissed to executive session with Milliron Monday evening for 45 minutes, before reconvening and releasing the results.

?I was very pleased,? said Milliron when asked about the outcome. The evaluation is nearly identical to last year, minus a contract extension. Wozniak said the uncertainty with the budget is the only reason a contract extension hasn?t been offered yet.

School districts around the state learned last Thursday that the new governor is proposing an additional $300 per pupil cut. Milliron is Posen?s first superintendent to handle the K-12 duties, but additionally, when he was hired in to take over in a full-time role in 2007, it was his first administrative job. His salary is $87,000 a year. Last year?s contract extension came with no salary increase.
