?Hope meter is almost on empty?

The disappearance of Andrew Haight, 70, remains a mystery. There have been possible sightings reported in New Baltimore and Warren, according to a family member, but no positive confirmation that indeed the man who walked away from his home Aug. 28, has been spotted.

A passerby saw him that morning at the corner of North Allis Highway and Dittmar Road, near his home, but he has been missing since. Haight has Alzheimer?s and dementia.

?Help unlock this mystery by giving us your piece of the puzzle,? said Angela Mathes of Flint, Haight?s daughter. She said the family?s ?hope meter is almost on empty.?

MATHES SAID several family members were in North Allis and Ocqueoc Townships over the weekend conducting searches, including the walking of a cornfield.

She said it?s been frustrating trying to get the downstate media to continue showing his photo and get the word out; however, one report led to a possible sighting in Warren. Esther Roberts on Colleen Avenue, near Eight Mile and Schoenherr, said it could have been Haight at her door.

?He knocked, he entered, he said, ?is Laura here,? ? said Mathes. She said, ? ?there?s no Laura that lives here.? ?He turned around, got off her porch. He seemed bewildered, disoriented and very tired. Two hours later she saw him on the news.?

Mathes said, ?I?m holding out hope that it was my father. Basically, a lot of the

police officers are telling me don?t get your hopes up, because some people are media mongers and want to be on the news. So, you never really know, until we get a confirmed sighting by the police.?

THERE WAS another possible sighting in New Baltimore earlier this week. ?I would like to have my father back, one way or the other. If he?s passed away, we want him back, so we can have closure to this. If he?s still alive, please let the police know. Don?t hold it in, and if you do see him, he likes black coffee. Offer him a black coffee. Have him sit down. Contact the police while he?s drinking the coffee.?

Anyone with information, or a piece of the puzzle, should call the local state police office at 734-2204 or 989-356-5739.
