Onaway show draws 120 tractors

The Tip of The Mitt Antique Tractor Association held its10th annual antique tractor show over the weekend on the show grounds on M-211. According to organizer Tim Hart, around 120 tractors were registered for the show, which featured the Massey Harris tractor.
The farthest traveled tractor came from Lenox, Michigan, a township in Macomb County nearly 300 miles from Onaway. Many tractors came from Onaway and Millersburg as well as some from Afton, Hawks and Levering.
?Things went really well, we had beautiful weather and everyone seemed to be in good spirits about the show,? said Hart. The most popular event was the Friday night tractor pulls when a good crowd turnout came to see 105 pulls at the arena.
Saturday?s events began with the gates opening at 9 a.m. and tractor games at 9:30 a.m. Dynometer testing started at 10 a.m. and a tractor parade followed at 11 a.m. A pig roast went from noon until 1 p.m. and the draft horse pulls started at 2 p.m. A raffle drawing was held at 4:30 p.m. just before kid?s games began. A tractor safari at 6 p.m. and music beginning at 7 p.m. wrapped up Saturday at the show.

The food booth on the grounds went well according to Kelli Stockwell, with all of the proceeds going to the Tip of The Mitt Antique Tractor Association so it can continue putting on shows in the future.
?Spectator attendance was pretty good, a little down from last year but they were scattered throughout the day and enjoyed themselves,? said Hart.
Upcoming events for the association include a tractor pull on the show grounds on Sept. 19 and a family kid?s day to be held on Oct. 16 at the show grounds. Next year?s show will be held on July 8-10 at the show grounds.
