On the final play of the game, Hillman had loaded the bases on a single and two infield errors. Lance Stafford lofted a fly ball to medium right field. Huron rightfielder Ben Tulgestke made the catch, and threw home in an effort to nail Caleb Zimmer at the plate.

Pitcher Tyler Szumila cut off the throw in the middle of the infield grass and relayed it to Huron junior catcher Jesse Wilbert. Wilbert had the plate blocked and made the tag for the final out. Szumila who went all seven innings to get the win, allowed seven hits while striking out four. He didn’t walk a batter. The Hurons play in the Pellston regional June 12.
