Another school record fell at the Fairview Invitational Tuesday, as eighth-grader Korynn Hincka shaved a couple of seconds off the best time ever in the 3,200-meter run. Hincka?s time was 12:59.45. The old mark was 13:02 set by Jenny Konieczny in 1993. Yet, Hincka finished fourth at the meet, which is a good indication of the level of competition the girls face were up against. Corey Hentkowski set a new record in the 100, April 16. Hincka was fourth in the 1,600 (6:08.03), while Julia Lewandowski was fourth in the 200 (29.79). The girls finished in seventh place with 38.50 points. The boys ended up in eighth place with 42 points, even though Corey Hentkowski had first place showings in the 100 (11.42) and 200 (24.09). He was second in the long jump (19? 1?), a season best.

LAST FRIDAY at the Mancelona Invitational, the Vikings girls were sixth (39) and the boys ninth (33). Hincka was second in the 1,600 run (5:56.01, PR), only 2.2 seconds out of first. She also was fourth in the high jump (4? 09?, PR). Tracy Mulka had her best shot put toss of the season, earning the Vikings points with her fourth place showing (29? 11.5?). She also placed fifth in the discus (80? 2?).
