Forty-seven Onaway High School seniors wind up their high school careers this weekend with their commencement ceremony Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The traditional playing of ?Pomp and Circumstance,? ushering the graduates into the OHS gymnasium, will be played by the high school band to begin the program. Principal Marty Mix will welcome friends and family, while interim superintendent Rod Fullerton will deliver opening remarks.

The Class of 2010?s top four stude

nts will then parade to the podium for their graduation speeches. Typically, there are three top students acknowledged, this year there are four, with Allie Nave and Nicolette Olree both completing four years of high school with a 4.00 grade point average.

Honor student Danielle Reece will be first, followed by salutatorian Lynsey Lyle, and then valedictorians Nave and Olree.

The itinerary will continue with the high school band selections; graduation recommendations; presentation of the Class of 2010; presentation of diplomas by the board of education; slide show and the turning of the tassels.

That?s usually when pandemonium breaks out, and if one doesn?t want to get silly string in their hair, it is best to stay away from the first couple of rows of what will be the newest members of the school?s alumnus.
